Bag It.

Today is Mulberry's birthday so we wanted to a birthday salute to the ultimate British "It Bag". Formed in Somerset with an aim to produce belts for vintage giants Biba, the company expanded into the fabulously luxurious brand specialising in bags and accessories. Mulberry quickly created a vogue for "le style Anglais" with their classically British designs. It is incredible that this British brand has stood the test of time and is still looked to for the go-to designer for bags to be seen in. Check out the various Mulberry birthday parties that are happening across London and have a peek at the animated history of the brand here. There is also a gorgeous, glossy book out celebrating 40 years of the brand which might just be the best birthday present ever for your loved ones (or us). Happy Birthday Mulberry and long may your delicious bags continue!

P.S If you need inspiration for any other presents, then you will not go wrong with this...In fact you will be in the good books forever and ever - Amen.

Not Doing Glasto?

Well, don't worry! We have found a couple of vintage themed treats to take your mind of those mud revellers:

If you happen to be in the Lake District on Sunday 26th June head to Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair at the Rheged Centre near Penrith. There will be over 35 hand picked stalls, from the marketplace curator of Vintage at Goodwood 2010. Vintage goodies will span from 1920s to 1960s so we're sure you will find some real gems.

If you are a beautiful Brummie then head to the Pavillions shopping centre this Saturday and Sunday and get rooting through a fab selection of vintage treats and trinkets. There are going to be about 60 stalls covering clothing, jewellery and SHOES- so more vintage than you can shake a stick at.

So, don your shopping shoes ladies and give those purses some exercise!

All aboard the Love Boat.....

"The love boat promises something for everyone" - or so it goes! We were so excited to see that, as part of the Vintage extravaganza in London this summer, the Love Boat (MN Royalty - one of the oldest boats still on the river) takes on a new lease of life in the form of  cruise ship along the Thames. You will be able to board the fully kitch-ed out vessel for lunch, posh champagne brunches or evening meals complete with full on retro-themed buffet treats - think prawn cocktail, cheese and pineapple on sticks and vol-au-vonts (amazing)! For those night owls there will also be some nautical disco dancing on deck as you sail pass the big smoke at night. So dig out your boat shoes and set sail on a vintage themed adventure - anchors away!

£20 per ticket (+ booking fee)
It will set sail from Festival Pier, the heart of the Marketplace during The Vintage Festival weekend.Details: FRIDAY 29th, SATURDAY 30th AND SUNDAY 31st July 2011

Don't forget to dress for the occasion.....

Not Just A Hat Rack....

Well, actually, for the next couple of days many people attending Ascot will consider themselves to be just that! One of the best places to parade your most outrageous outfits and the only place where it is actually rude to take your hat off indoors, we just love having a good old gander at the millinery creations lining the tracks. As a regal nod to Ladies Day, Princess Beatrice's famous fascinator and the saviours of bad hair days, we have collected our five favourite noggin decorations to get you in the mood. Ten to one odds on it raining.

Seventies Style - Wide Brim Straw Hat

Classic 20s Inspired Straw Cloche

On Trend Floral - Over sized Silk Rose Hair Piece
Easy Tiger - Animal Print Cloche

And finally, just because we should never forget...

Not so Tatty..

We are massive fans of kooky jewellery brand Tatty Devine and were super excited to hear that they are releasing a new necklace in collaboration with the fabulous Broken Hearts DJs to celebrate the launch of their new radio show "Peppermint Candy" on Jazz FM. The colour popping red necklace will feature the show's name together with a cute heart charm. The Devine duo will be joining the swing loving DJs on their show this Thursday giving listeners the chance to win the necklaces. A bit of a no-brainer really - you get to listen to awesome Swing and Jazz music, join in some excellent girlie chat and maybe even grab yourself a super prize!

Lovely Lily...

Although we are actually madly jealous and crazed with envy, we feel Lily and her 20s inspired dress by French designer, Delphine Manivet, does deserve a blog of applause. Rocking English country garden and looking like she might actually burst with happiness, we couldn't help but feel happy for the blushing bride (all the more cute that Lily is a Mum to be). We not only loved the stunning lace dress (which did remind us of frock Middleton) but thought the vintage inspired hair piece was just divine. Oh to be a guest at that reception........

Obi Trend

Obi - not the Star Wars kind, the beautiful figure enhancing kind. Made big in the 70s, often inspired by Chinese design, these wonderful belts have been seen all over the catwalks this season including this floral beauty from the fabulous Marc Jacobs SS11 collection.

A perfect way to punctuate your outfit and to clinch in that waist, we are loving these belts worn with anything from a billowing maxi to a crisp white shirt and pencil skirt. Check out the sumptuously soft, quilted, black leather number from Lowie for some seriously sexy styling.

Stacking It....

Not the falling over kind, the stacking up of jewellery kind -  we love and need it. Whether it is done in gold or wood we encourage piling it high and making a serious statement. Our favs at the moment:

Lucas Jack Stacking Star bracelets and Vintage Inspired rings.

Wonderful Wooden Cuffs from The Branch.

I Can Mash Potato...

Well, actually I have two left feet, but this might just be the answer to my prayers! You can now learn to bop like they did in the fifties and sixties in the uber cool surroundings of The Shoreditch bar at the brand new Soul Underground night run by The Soul Dance Company. Instructors will take you through all the classic shimmies from across the decades including the ultimate in retro grooving - "the Twist". If tapping your feet in front of the class is not your thing, or if you are twinkle toes already, you can skip the lesson and go along to the DJ session after lessons end and strut your stuff. Word is, the cocktail menu is pretty sharp too, so you can always prop up the bar instead. We are practising our James Brown slides in the mirror already...

Ridiculously Good Mash Potato

Prices are £8 with the lesson and £5 without. The lesson runs from 7.15 for an hour with the DJ session finishing at 11pm on 8 June and 13 July.
The Shoreditch is on Shoreditch High Street - nearest tube is the same.
