Hats Off To You

Cold ears are just about the worst things to endure in winter months and there is really no need with the collection of fabulous hats and warmers out there. As always, we are on the search for vintage inspired woolies and we reckon we have come up trumps this time. So, tip yours, tilt yours, hold it out for spare change or just keep your hat rack cosy - bring it on Jack Frost.

Fit Feet

Today is all about feet. We hate them but we love what keeps 'em pretty and at the moment we are all about the knee high boot. We have been excited about the knee high trend for ages now and waiting for colder days so we could rock the look. Don’t worry – gone are the days when knee highs were just about being sexy for boys – the boot is back but with style and class. We are particularly in love with the retro vibe that the catwalks have embraced – think wide tops and block heels rather than tight patent spikes. Our favourite right now is combining the colour block trend and wearing bolder boots with contrasting coloured coat or woollen dress. Perfect for keeping out winter blues! We wanted to share the love and get you thinking about how you can incorporate this look right through the season by showcasing some of the AW collections and the power of the knee high! Prepare to want…

Velvet Crush On You

Our current obsession is velvet… we love it and have taken to wearing it everywhere in some shape or form. Not only is it a great way to work your textures – team with anything from leather to lace – but it immediately adds a touch of the opulent to your look. Given that lady like styling is all the rage this is a super Brucey bonus! Here are a couple of bits we have added to the boutique to help you work this luxurious look.

Autumnal Colour Pop

It is a MASSIVE trend this season and how glad we are that colour popping madness has transcended the traditional summer months and is making the longer nights that bit brighter. We are all about big bold colour notes and mashing them all up in a firework of fabulousness. Fear not though, if you are not quite ready for a purple/yellow mash up just yet, you can opt for a bright blocks (think berry or mustard) or mix it up with a bold floral print to look just as wonderful. As always, we want a vintage twist to our trends and so have pulled out a couple of beauts from the boutique to get you going. Say boo to dark dismal days and hurrah to pep me up colour pops.

Looking Hot In The Bread Aisle

We have all heard those stories about meeting the partner of your dreams across a frozen chicken which can only mean one thing – you need to look good in the aisles! Now, popping out for a loaf and a pint of semi-skimmed can mean rocking a vintage look too. Gone are the days of getting out your crumpled plastic bag – make an effort girls! Introducing the ever so cute, environmentally friendly but seriously stylish eco-shopper! This re-usable shopping bag is made from washable organic cotton or canvas and boasts a great selection of wonderful vintage handbag printed to the front of the bag – Awesome. We have also found they also make the perfect gift for Mums and Aunties!

Take Me Away On A Carousel - Louis Vuitton Does Sixties In The Most Magical Way

Sometimes, something happens that is just, well, magical. We were pretty blown away but the quite spectacular SS 2012 catwalk (or cat-ride) from the fabulous Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton at Paris fashion week. The audience were treated to a fabulous white fairground carousel complete with white horses all ridden by models in a dreamlike trance until each one stepped down onto the catwalk to show off the collection.

The colour tone was pastel and the mood ethereal with a strong focus on some seriously sixties a-line and 50s puff ball skirt styling. Clearly, Ms Moss was the star of the show in a feathered mini dress and bridal inspired headband. We loved the retro shapes contrasted with steel toe capped pointy shoes and were left very ready for next summer! So beautiful, so sixties....so getting a carousel in the living room. End of.

Here is our favourite 60s style dress from our little shop to help you leap ahead of the fash pack:

Mince Pies in M&S

Right, it is NOT Christmas. We nearly dropped our Percy pigs when we saw mince pies on the shelves in M&S this week. Admittedly, we bought some but that is not the point! We have just had a heat wave and haven’t even dressed up as a pumpkin yet so we refuse to get drawn into this ridiculous marketing ploy to talk about the the three kings before the leaves have even fallen off the trees.

If, however, you are thinking about stockings of the festive kind, we want this 1960s vintage dress for Christmas  parties:
