Fall in Love with Autumn Fashion Style: Our AW15 Trend Report

Autumn is upon us and we’re celebrating with our preview of AW15 trends and how to rock them, so you can start thinking ahead!

Sassy Seventies – Can You Dig It?
Just in time for party season, the 70s are back even bigger and better! With a huge autumn style revival of embroidery, beads, crochet and fringing, you’re all set for the upcoming festivities. For some luxury boho, shimmer away in our French Connection Million Stars Dress with sheer sleeves and v neckline. Team it up with vintage heels, statement earrings and a waterfall necklace like our long length triangle necklace.

Glam Geek – Style Inspo From The Royal Tenenbaums
We’ve all gone mad for Margot here at Rock My Vintage and our beloved Tenenbaum character fits right in with one of the kookiest new autumn trends. Glam geek is all about retro office elegance meets girl at library, think muted vintage tones in pale blue, mustard, burgundy and pink. Our Emily and Fin Sophie dress in boat print captures the mood perfectly; team any one of our tea dresses with a cable knit cardi, chunky Mary Janes with ankle socks, a knitted bobble hat and get your geek on!

Vamp It Up – The New Gothic Trend This Season
With a touch of whimsy, dress romantic this season in sultry deep lace and smoky jewellery as the new gothic trend makes choosing autumn party outfits a breeze. Check out our black floral prom dress with an intricate laser cut lace design; sweetheart neckline and 50s style skirt. These vintage style dresses always work well with towering heels, a deep toned jewelled headband and metallic accessories like our red diamante necklace.

Texture Overload – Layering Up
Layering is big this season, great for keeping out the cold and creating luxury textures for the evening. From quilting and furs to the more romantic embellished overlays, staying warm in winter is ever more creative. For the perfect party dress, choose the soft chiffon layers of our black embellished flapper dress with geometric beadwork and smock style loose fit. Shimmer at the party with a fur cape, silver hair comb and one of our sparkly brooches.

Whichever autumn trends you choose to rock, this season lets the girl let go, as she moves away from the serious vibes of past seasons. So let your hair down and embrace your inner free spirit with our New Dresses Collection available online now!

Wes Anderson Inspiration

This week we’re totally inspired by Ken Harman’s 6th annual Wes Anderson art show recently exhibited in New York. We love the quirky style of the characters from the films, from Agatha’s cute bow dress and Suzy’s peter pan collars to melancholic Margot’s sultry edge, the films never disappoint! Check out exhibition photos here.

Spice Up Your Life!

Talk of a Spice Girls reunion last week got the 90s girl inside us all excited! It’s been almost 20 years since they burst into our lives (we can’t believe it either!). It seems like only yesterday we were screaming the lyrics to ‘Spice Up Your Life’ in front of the bedroom mirror, much to our parents dismay. And whilst they've been gone awhile, they certainly haven’t been forgotten.

We are in the midst of a 90s revival right now and its clear to see that a host of newbie celebs have taken inspiration from sporty, posh, scary, baby and ginger in the style stakes. Just like them we still love to incorporate the ‘girl power’ look into our everyday lives.

Granted we still haven’t mastered the art of walking in platforms and we’re not too keen on flashing as much flesh as the girls did back in the day but the odd hint of leopard print is a must!

With this in mind we have created a mini guide to achieve the ‘subtle spice’ approach. We’ve taken inspiration from the fierce five to create some looks straight from the Rock my Vintage range. And my, we’ve had fun digging up old images of the girlies.

Wedding Wednesday - 1950s Bridesmaids

For this week's Wedding Wednesday, we're taking a look at one of our favourite eras. Kitsch weddings are ideal for retro loving couples, who want to incorporate a vintage feel on their special day. The fifties were colourful, fun and quirky, so it makes a fantastic theme for a fun loving couple.

When it comes to your bridesmaids dresses, you can really have some fun! Mix up colours and prints to really channel the spirit of the era, or go for flirty floral prints for a bolder look.

Here at Rock My Vintage we've got you covered, with our 1950s prom dresses coming in an array of popping prints and colours. Choose between plain, polka dot or floral to fit with your wedding aesthetic. With a classic fifties shape, these flattering styles are perfect for swishing and twirling on the dance floor and they are sure to suit even the pickiest of pals.

So then, vintage vixens, which do you love?!
