THE DREADED "IN-BETWEEN SEASONS" BIT AND HOW TO NAIL IT!

It's the time of the year when we don't know whether to shed our Winter layers and shave our legs or put a puffer on and continue to hibernate. Shopping is a nightmare, what should I buy in the Sales? Is it a waste of money?

We are here to help with the low-down on how to buy for this weird time of year, keep your vintage style and make your money work hard for you.

1. Buy a 1920s dress for going out.

It's simple - you still go dancing whatever the weather and, usually, abandon all rational thought process around covering up anyway! That's where the 1920s style dress comes in a dream. Full of sparkle, personality and general all round vintage wonder, these flapper inspired dresses are a key and stable wardrobe piece that you can turn out in Spring with lighter shades of jewellery to keep them fresh. This black and gold 1920s dress is a perfect example of transitional evening dressing.

2. Buy a tran-seasonal colour.

It may not be the best shout to buy a dark forest green dress when lighter days are on the horizon so stick to a colour-way that will work in a few months time. Think brighter tones or patterns like this vintage prom dress and you are all set for months ahead.

3. Think layers.

'Tis the season for tights, sheer ankle socks and even stockings (the catwalks told us so) so invest in some cool layers and add a fur stole or kooky cardi to keep you warm, then abandon at will when it warms up. Tea dresses, like this quirky yellow number, are an ideal contender so invest now and you will still be rocking it in June.

So, you can dress for all seasons with the help of a few clever tips and remember that the safest investment is an evening dress that can be worn all year round. Our money is always on a 1920s dress, as it will never go out of style and the bling will always bring happiness!

Transition with ease when you go for gold!

Gold, always believe in your soul...and the power of a marvellous metallic to take you through two seasons!

Glittering Gold Goddess made simple with this Gold Fringed Flapper

With sale season upon us, it is difficult to know how to spend your cash. However, here at RMV we have always had firm faith in the shiny stuff and here's why....

Anything with a metallic sheen screams party season and when it comes to getting your glad rags on it doesn't matter if your metal is pastel or pewter so you can shimmy through the Winter in a blush rose as long as it brings some bling!

What's more, with RSVP season still in full swing, you will get plenty of wear out of it now as best dressed guest. Then, just switch it up, change your accessories, add a fake fur stole and you are hot to trot when the heat fizzles out.

Stick with a classic silver sheen
and this Summer sizzler becomes another one of your eye-catching Winter Party Dresses

You see, your old man was right, invest in gold - it will never depreciate in value!

Big shout out to all the metallic magpies xx

  • Don't wear white! There's nothing worse than turning up to a party where someone has the same outfit as you...now imagine it's your wedding! Do yourself and the beautiful bride a favour and pick another colour. Go for one of these bejewelled beauties instead: http://www.rockmyvintage.co.uk/dresses/wedding-guest-dresses.htm

Do's

  • Do turn off your phone. Make the ceremony unforgettable for the right reason, not because your embarrassing little mermaid ringtone stole the show!

Get Personal! Individual Wedding Day Style...

Wedding season is now amongst us and we are simply astounded by all the cute and creative ways in which people celebrate their special day. Having observed  this we have come to the conclusion that planning a wedding is a perfect occasion to showcase your personal style and the special unique things that tie you together as a couple. Whether it's a centre piece that reaches skyscraper proportions for a extravagant pair or painted jam jars for an  artistic duo, the important thing is to enjoy the next stage your new life together.

When it comes to decor we are totally in love with these quirky fun pieces that don't take themselves too seriously but still exude elegance and class! The handmade feather garland has a hippy vibe which would appeal to almost any bohemian bride and the glitter balloons add some playful decadence to the occasion without looking over-formal. And who wouldn't love these glitter-covered donuts?

Another tip to make your day totally unique and special (as well as more affordable...just saying) is to make some of the decorations or items yourselves. Not only will no one else have them, you will appreciate the affect all the more after you've spent a whole day making multitudes of bunting!

The white wedding dress is not for everyone. In this day and age sometimes it's nice to break tradition and go for something that feels more you! For those of you who love the 1920s this Nude Beaded Maxi Dress would make the ideal showstopper.  With its layers upon layers of pretty tulle, figure hugging bodice and intricate embellishment you'll certainly be dressed beautifully for the occasion. For your hair you could always go for something like our Gold Gatsby Hair Comb with its iridescent pearl detailing and shimmering diamante. Just pop it behind your chignon for a elegant touch!
